Dr. Stanley Starr founded Starr & Glick Orthodontics in 1971 and practiced orthodontics for 51 years, having recently retired in 2022. While he is now retired from clinical practice, Dr. Starr remains with the practice as a consultant to our other doctors and staff.
Dr. Starr grew up in Atlantic City and graduated from Atlantic City High School. He then attended Bloomfield College in Bloomfield, New Jersey, where he graduated Magna Cum Laude with a B.A. in Sociology. Dr. Starr received his Doctorate of Dental Surgery (D.D.S.) from the Temple University School of Dentistry in Philadelphia. At Temple, Dr. Starr was inducted into the Omicron Kappa Upsilon (O.K.U.) Dental Honor Society. Induction into O.K.U. is the highest honor that a dental student can receive. Dr. Starr then completed his specialty training in Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics at the prestigious University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine.
Dr. Starr annually maintained a rigorous continuing education schedule that allowed him to remain on the cutting edge of orthodontic and dental technology for over half a century. Dr. Starr continues to have a great passion for orthodontic education and has served for years on the faculty at the Boston University Goldman School of Dental Medicine as a clinical professor in the Applied Experience Program.
Dr. Starr possesses a strong background in basic scientific and orthodontic research and received a Federal Grant for a research project he conducted on "The Impact of Orthodontic Treatment on the Development of Self Image." In the past, Dr. Starr presented table clinics at national meetings of the American Association of Orthodontics entitled "The Classification and Diagnosis of Orthodontic Problems."
Dr. Starr was a member of the American Association of Orthodontists, the Massachusetts Association of Orthodontists, the American Dental Association, the Massachusetts Dental Society, the West Metropolitan District Dental Society, the James Cameron Oral Surgery Society, and the Greater Boston Orthodontic Study Group.
Dr. Starr and his wife, Susan, a dental hygienist, have two children, Jason and Julie. He is the proud grandfather of four beautiful grandchildren. In retirement, Dr. Starr now resides in Florida and spends most of the summer months in Vermont his children and grandchildren. He is an intense sports fan and enjoys golf and power walking. We salute his many contributions to our practice and community and wish him many happy and healthy years in his well-deserved retirement.
